Pal Virik Nilsen will make a comeback in the F2 series after eight years with Offshore. Last time was back in
2002 when he was runner up in the Scandinavian series.
Pal will race in the two
boat team of GeTel racing from Sweden. Maritimo Australia is also supporting this project. The
F2 race in Udevalla will have over 15 drivers from 11 nations present.
Pal says: - I am looking forward to this challenge. The team and boat seems very good. Hopefully i will fit right into it again but it will sure take some laps. We will try to get some testing in Stockholm during next week. I will bring
some of my old crew from my early days of racing, so we look forward too a fun time at least. I do not have so
high expectations regarding results, but i will for sure do my best as usual.

SHORT HAPPINESS TODAY
Mustang got the start in race one today but everything
went wrong after just 300 meters. A lack of oil / pressure
destroyed one engine. With only one hour between
first and second race it was no time to change engine
or try to make the last race.
Pal comments: Its always a part of racing that retirements
are involved, but this is maybe too much. I really hope the team can sort this engine programme out or maybe change kind of engines to make a turning point in the next races in Redcliffe.
Our chances to defend the Australian title
is almost out of reach.
Thanks to Bill/Lesley for everything on this trip!
We will be back for sure.....

BEST TIME IN POLE POSITION
Today was a much better day for Mustang. Tom Barry-Cotter
and Pal Virik Nilsen set the two fastest laps of the day, with
a average speed of 190 km/h around the course
.
Second was Maritimo and third Qatar 96. It will be two
good races on Sunday in sunny Townsville.
Pole position today saw the Frier brothers in
"The good guys"
crash their Maritimo built boat.
Both crew is okay, but will sadly not race
tomorrow.

BAD DAY TODAY
The Mackay grand prix did not turn out to be a success for
Tom Barry-Cotter and Pal Virik Nilsen In the boat
"MUSTANG". First race today sunday they did not even
reach the start lineup.
A blowerbelt problem forced them to go back to pit for a
repair before race two. But sadly enough the same story
came in the next race as well on lap three. Mustang also
had a big spinnout before the stop few meters after.
The Mustang "Spinnout" on lap three.
Pal says: Its just so frustrating, but what can you do? I feel
sorry for our engine builder Kurt and the rest of the crew
who puts all their efford in this, and today we failed big
time. Its just to forget this and focus on next weekend.
I believe that everything is better there.
Congratulations to Sheik Hassan and Steve Curtis in
Qatar 96 fortheir win this weekend. We promise you
guys more competition next week.

this growing series.
Pal says: I cant waith to get on the plane to this race.
Our newly rebuilt boat is ready and i have a strong
believe that we will deliver our best performance there.
It will be nice to compete against our friends from world championships Sheikh Hassan and Steve Curtis in

MODIFIED MARITIMO VERSION READY
For the next rounds in the Australian superboat series Tom Barry-Cotter and Pal Virik Nilsen will again race the Maritimo designed C1 boat . The hull has gone thru major changes and the report from testing says its a better boat. After a mixture season with ups and downs last year, Tom and Pal is more than ready to race this special boat witch from now on will be named "MUSTANG".
More info about Mustang brand here.....
Pal says: We know its potencial in this boat. We proved that several times last season. But some technical issues together with handeling problems was one of the factors that set us behind. Its for sure more work to be done but i am very confident that the changes is to the better and we look forward to the upcoming races.
Tom and Pal did a great job and secured valuable points today by winning the first round of the Australian superboat series 2010. They got a okay start with second place on the first turn. After second turn the mercury V8 powered "Aegean" was in the lead. They managed to keep the lead for the rest of the one hour long race.
Pal says: A near perfect day for us when everything worked well. After the start i was thinking we had choosen a wrong setup, but half a lap later we where happy with our choice. Maritimo 15 was in front on the first pin, but we managed to past them in the quite rough sea outside. After that we held the boat in the lead untill the flag dropped. Many boats stopped by mechanical faliure, but its a good feeling that we won after working our way into the first place at the starting lap when everybody was still running. Many thanks to all the crew and particularly Tom this weekend for a great job. I also want to thank Bill and Lesley Barry-Cotter, who made my participation possible.

GOOD TEST TODAY IN NEWCASTLE
In todays test session Aegean "Aus 1" with Tom and Pal got a good run. Quite big waves suited the boys and boat well. The team looks forward tomorrows first race in the Australian Superboat Championships 2010. Can Tom and Pal
defend the Aus 1 title? Stay tune tomorrow....
Pal says: It was just great to get back in the boat with Tom again. There was some big swells on the open sea who made us jump high somethimes. A great feeling! Its a great balanced and good handeled boat so fare. This is a boat we never driven together in a race before, so the weekend will be interesting and we look forward to the rest of it.

MARITIMO WITHDRAWS FROM WC
Maritimo Australia has taken the decition to have a break away season from WC in Class-1. One of the main reasons
is the need to test the new boats. Last season was good sometimes, but lack of testing and preparation saw some needs for improvment to be fast and reliable the
whole season through.
Now the team will peacefully test and do some national
races in Australia, and also the possibility of running
Key West Worlds in November. We come back
with futher information later.
